JenEece M. Phillips
Ms. Phillips is a California licensed Attorney, committed to zealous advocacy. Ms. Phillips earned her law degree from American Heritage University of Southern California, School of Law. She has always been a leader among her peers and served as Student Bar Association President while in law school. Ms. Phillips also competed at the Student Negotiations Competition at Golden Gate University.
After obtaining her law license in 2015 Ms. Phillips completed an internship for California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA), an organization committed to the fight for justice and individual rights alongside the most exploited communities of our society. While at CRLA, Ms. Phillips actively participated in significant civil rights legal advocacy. Ms. Phillips collaborated in education litigation on behalf of students of the Kern High School District who were subjected to racially discriminatory discipline and transfer policies that resulted in the disproportionate expulsion of minority students. Ms. Phillips also negotiated with the Housing Authority of the County of Kern to establish a legally compliant Language Access Plan to provide limited English proficient individuals with access to interpreters and documents in their own language.
Since then Ms. Phillips has worked as an Attorney for one of California’s largest Plaintiff side labor and employment law firms - zealously advocating for the rights of employees. Ms. Phillips has represented hundreds of clients in claims ranging from wage and hour issues, wrongful termination and retaliation, sexual harassment, discrimination, FMLA/ADA violations, and other employment related disputes.
Ms. Phillips has had a long career in Employment Services prior to her legal work, working for both public agencies and private companies. Ms. Phillips served for more than a decade in various aspects of employment services, including as a Human Resources Manager, Recruiter, and Director of Career Services - writing policies and business processes, developing legally compliant hiring strategies, automating payroll systems, and reviewing termination processes. As such, Ms. Phillips understands employment issues from many perspectives. This inside knowledge of how a company’works to resolve employment disputes has laid the foundation for her commitment to employee rights. Ms. Phillips founded E-Justice Project as a way to make legal services accessible to California employees, especially those who are often left out of the quest for Justice.
